Simple ways to burn calories

So here I am again, a young woman struggling with her weight...something new and different huh? Well i will try and make this more realistic and fun than other things about weight loss.

First of all, I'm a member of the team, I need to lose weight too! There is nothing more annoying than some skinny chick telling me how I need to go about losing weight, when I know darn well that she can eat a tub of ice cream and not gain a pound. Ok, Ok, maybe I don't know that, but I sure feel that way!

Anyway I have decided to try and incorporate one change into my life a week while at the same time trying to have a common sense approach to this whole weight loss and healthy living thing. So I am going to list easy changes that I and you can make that don't take that much effort.

Easy changes to lose weight

1. Walking more! I know that sounds obvious and the same old thing, but it is not hard, I promise! All I am saying is that we should park out cars one row back from where we were parking, or walking to our co-workers office or desk to ask them a question or tell them something. If won't cause us to be in the little poke-a-dot bikini tomorrow but next summer may start to be more realistic!

2. Dancing! Dance around as you get dressed! I am unmarried and I do not have kids yet, but if you are married or have kids, dance with your hubby or boyfriend or dance around with your kids. I have been a nanny/babysitter for the past 5 years and kids LOVE to dance! Putting on music in the morning wakes me up and if I can burn some extra calories while I'm at it, welll YAY!

3. Walk and Talk! I swear I spend half of my life on my cell phone, but even for those who use it a normal, less obnoxious about, walking around while we are on the phone can burn some major calories! I know there are some of you out there that get into hour long phone convos with your mom, sister, best friend, whatever so why not walk around while you are having your ear talked off? I find that I don't even notice that I'm doing anything while I'm on the phone!

4. Do 'it'! As I am going to be teaching middle school I figure I should get into the mind set of speaking in such vague terms. However, 'it' burns a lot of calories!

As you notice i keep saying we and us. The reason I am doing that is really pretty selfish. I need to feel like I'm part of a team and that i am in this with someone else in order to do it. I need the support and though I have wonderful friends and family I'm kinda over it when it comes to my skinny friends advising on diet advice right after they want to go to cold stone and my family, well lets not go there.

I guess what I really want you all to understand is that I really am just one of the normal people. I am a size 14/16, depending on the brand and prolly a little bigger in a dress, as God blessed me with big boobs. I want to be healthy, not skinny, just healthy. As I stated in my first blog, I will be focusing on healthy living and my teaching experience, but I feel that I will pretty much alternate the focus daily. Though once I actually start teaching there will be much more overlap.

Thank you for reading and PLEASE leave me suggestions!

Healthy Lifestyle and Teaching

Hola!

So I am starting a blog because I feel that I will be able to share my struggles and experiences and get some advice at the same time. I am a first year teacher and I am struggling to live a healthy life-style. I was just hired to teach 8th grade math and language arts. I am excited because in this economy finding a job is not as simple as it once was.

So the point of my blog will be to gain advice from others and to give advice about living a healthy life-style and being a successful teacher. I know that both of these things are challenging and this is the reason that I am seeking advice.

So a little about myself:

I am from North Carolina, as the title says and I recently graduated from a University of North Carolina school. I have struggled with my weight since I was a teenager, which wasn't that long ago as I am 23 years old. I played sports when I was in High School and that helped to keep my health in line, however college was a shock to my system. I love college, don't get me wrong, but it did not do a lot for my health, which I take full responsibility for.

So over the next year, I plan to write as much as I can about the things I learn as I enter my new career and my new life-style. I would love suggestions and help! Thank you in advance!
